Lisa Davis is a UK-based abstract artist working with acrylics on canvas. She has always dabbled in painting, but it wasn’t until suffering three tragic losses in less than a year that Lisa dedicated herself to her art.

While working through her grief in front of a canvas, Lisa re-discovered her passion and stepped into her purpose. Every piece is revealed in the moment, evolving spontaneously and organically with each stroke of the brush (or comb or fork or ice scraper…whatever is on hand can be part of her creative process).

Lisa’s work has been displayed in London art galleries and exhibitions, and also featured in a Gallery magazine. Her creative vision has led to commissions from a devoted international clientele.

The Theme is “Lost & Found” We’ve all been lost and found at some point in our lives to vary- ing degrees – and chances are it’s not a one-time occurrence.

This collection represents my journey over the past three years, when I met deep grief for the first time, and how I’ve nav- igated my way through it. The paintbrush and canvas are how I communicate – some- times it’s a full-blown conversation while other times, as in life, it’s a meandering exploration of colours.

SURVEY

This paint-pour creation resembles Ordnance Survey maps and was created when I was feeling lost, in need of navigation through the fog of an unfamiliar environment.

BIGGER PICTURE

Big sky and bigger thinking.

Life-changing events can remind us how little space we’re taking up in this world, but also how big our world can feel in specific moments.

BUSY

Our minds can be tranquil and calm or filled with busy thoughts – taking up space we cannot spare. We think we are “too busy” to tend to everything demanding our attention, when really it’s just our minds asking us to breathe

Minerals I

Minerals are naturally-occurring inorganic elements with a raw beauty; fundamentally simple at their core and highly sought after. This perfect composition makes them what they are and reminds us that we humans are no different – mind, body, and spirit coming together in beautiful harmony.

MISTY MORNING

The frantic mornings spent commuting to work – with the murky weather working against you and lack of clarity in your thoughts – have faded and quieted in the past couple of years. I am suddenly noticing and appreciating what was previously insignificant.

RAIN

Rain can be wild and isolating or soft teardrops falling from the sky. It can be a force of destruction or a cleansing renewal that lulls you to sleep. Whether you love it or loathe it, the rain – like your pain – is only temporary.

The second in the Mineral series, further revealing our layers – the heart and soul of the world we inhabit…externally and internally

GROUP CHAT

Formed during a video call with three friends, this piece was effectively created by four people. It was a curious exploration of styles and a new paint mix – I just followed the freedom of where it took me, much like our conversation that day.

NEBULA

A distinctly luminescent part of the interstellar medium – they are stretching and expanding without limits – just as our emotions can extend beyond our expectations – filling up the sky entirely.

PATIENCE

The meticulous and exacting attention to detail of this piece conveys the multitude of steps I’ve taken (so far) in becoming the best version of myself – an ever-evolving work in progress. Always allowing, never forcing, forever cultivating…patience.

Outside The Lines

Haven’t we all wanted to defy the rules – whether it’s school uniforms or societal expectations – from time to time? Grief supposedly comes in five stages, but that’s not how it works in reality, so you do what feels right for you, even if that means living outside the lines.

CONNECTION

Bursting with a kaleidoscope of tones that coalesce in harmony, these multi-layered, deep connections originated from this chapter of my life, and this piece reflects that. It was completed as part of an Instagram Live on New Year’s Eve as I was literally connecting with my chosen family around the world
